On May 30, 2023, Amalia Raouf Ishak, a 29-year-old woman from Avondale, Arizona, was fatally shot by her husband, Jose Chagnon. The incident occurred at a residence near 119th Avenue and Buckeye Road (also reported as near 119th Lane and Belmont Drive) when police responded to reports of gunshots and a woman screaming.
