Her life, however, was tragically cut short on September 11, 2022, in a violent act that also claimed the life of another man inside her salon. The perpetrator was identified as Ema's husband,
61-year-old Jose Jesus Rodriguez Parra, who co-owned the salon with his wife. Fueled by suspicions of an affair between his wife and the other man, Rodriguez Parra entered the salon and opened fire, shooting both individuals. The act of violence was witnessed by others in the salon, including an employee who considered Ema to be like a mother to her.
Following the shooting, Jose Jesus Rodriguez Parra was arrested and charged with two counts of first-degree murder. The investigation revealed that he had been monitoring his wife's conversations after placing a listening device in her car to confirm his suspicions of her infidelity. The tragic story took another turn when, eight days after the double homicide, Rodriguez Parra was found deceased in his jail cell from an apparent suicide.
