James Halverson, a 30-year-old firefighter from Centereach, NY, tragically lost his life on January 3, 1997. He was shot while jogging around the Centereach High School track, just a block from his home. Halverson was struck once in the chest and twice in the legs. His body was discovered by his pregnant wife, Rosalie, who went searching for him when he did not return home.
