Mohamed Hamwi, a 48-year-old systems analyst, was tragically shot dead on March 11, 2014, in Jamaica, Queens. Hamwi was returning home from his job at Trepp, an investment company in midtown Manhattan, when he was attacked. The incident occurred at the corner of 173rd Street and 105th Avenue, near his home. A 911 caller reported hearing gunshots around 12:15 a.m., and upon looking out, saw Hamwi lying face down on the sidewalk. He was shot in the right side of the face and the chest.
