In the quiet community of South Farmingdale, New York, a tragedy unfolded that left friends and neighbors in disbelief. On June 17, 2014, Anna Kaplan, a 74-year-old woman, was found deceased in her home. The grim discovery was made after a request for a wellness check at the residence she shared with her husband.
Upon entering the home, police found Anna and her 73-year-old husband, Barry Kaplan, in their bedroom, both having sustained gunshot wounds.
The initial investigation pointed towards a violent end to their lives, and the Nassau County Medical Examiner's Office was tasked with determining the precise circumstances. The subsequent investigation revealed a heart-wrenching conclusion: Anna was the victim of a murder-suicide.
