In a tragic turn of events, 15-year-old Alexis Anderson was found dead on the night of June 18, 2014, inside a residence in the Jamaica neighborhood of Queens, New York. The young female had sustained a fatal gunshot wound to her head. The location of her death was described by authorities as an abandoned home on 106th Road, near 180th Street, that was being used by squatters and was known as a place for drug activity.
The initial report to the police suggested that Anderson had taken
her own life. However, the investigation took a sharp turn when the city's medical examiner ruled her death a homicide. This led to the swift arrest of her 20-year-old boyfriend, Amin Abdullah. According to the Queens District Attorney, Abdullah initially told detectives that Anderson had shot herself. He later changed his story, admitting that he was the one who had shot her in the head with a revolver.
Further investigation revealed that a witness had seen Abdullah and Anderson engaged in a verbal argument shortly before the fatal shot was fired. The witness, who was in another room, reported hearing a popping sound between 11:00 p.m. and 11:43 p.m. Following the sound, Abdullah allegedly entered the witness's room, and together they discovered Anderson's body. In the wake of these events, Amin Abdullah was taken into custody and subsequently charged with murder and criminal possession of a weapon. If convicted of the charges brought against him, he faced the possibility of a lengthy prison sentence, with a potential of 25 years to life behind bars.
