Akai Kareem Gurley, a 28-year-old African American man, was tragically killed on November 20, 2014, in Brooklyn, New York. Gurley was fatally shot by New York City Police Department (NYPD) officer Peter Liang while he was walking down a dark stairwell in the Louis H.
