On a cold November night in 2014, the life of 21-year-old Michael Davon Hayden Jr. was tragically cut short on a Brooklyn street. The young man, who had bravely battled sickle cell anemia throughout his life, was not overcome by his illness but by an act of gun violence. On November 21st, in the East New York neighborhood, Hayden was fatally shot, a sudden and brutal end to a life that had already overcome so many challenges.
