On a cold December day in 2014, the life of 19-year-old Tracy Avery was cut short in Buffalo, New York. The young man, an African-American, was fatally shot on December 16th near the intersection of Genesee Street and Rogers Avenue. In addition to the gunshot wounds, there were indications that he may have also been struck by a vehicle, adding another layer of tragedy to the incident.
