Cornelius Caddele, a 20-year-old Black man from Buffalo, was killed on July 29, 2017, after a simmering neighborhood dispute on the city’s East Side suddenly turned into a burst of gunfire. Just after noon, the 200 block of Carl Street became a chaotic corridor of shouting and scrambling bodies, where a street fight or argument involving a number of people escalated and a shotgun was fired.
