George Elvecius, a 39-year-old man, lost his life to gun violence on March 6, 2024, in Pompano Beach, Florida. The incident occurred in the evening when Broward Sheriff’s Office (BSO) deputies responded to a call of a shooting near two locations: 250 N. Powerline Road and 164 N. Powerline Road.
Upon arrival, deputies found Elvecius in front of 164 N. Powerline Road, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. They immediately initiated life-saving measures until Pompano Beach Fire Rescue arrived and transported Elvecius to Broward Health North. Despite the efforts, Elvecius died a short time later at the hospital.
The preliminary investigation by BSO’s Crime Scene and Homicide units revealed that the shooting began in the parking lot of 250 N. Powerline Road and ended in front of 164 N. Powerline Road. Through their investigation, detectives determined that Terry Flowers Jr. was responsible for the homicide and obtained a warrant for his arrest.
On March 19, 2024, V.I.P.E.R. detectives located and arrested Flowers Jr. in Dania Beach. He was booked at BSO’s Main Jail and faces charges of first-degree murder with a firearm and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
The arrest marked the second time in two days that a fatal shooting in North Broward County had led to an arrest, highlighting the ongoing efforts of law enforcement to address and solve violent crimes in the area.
