On that fateful day, Elijah Davila, a member of the Taylor Avenue Crew who went by the name 'Montana,' along with another gang member, Allen McQueen, confronted Beard on Leland Avenue. The confrontation escalated, and Davila fatally shot Beard in the chest. The murder was a stark manifestation of the brutal rivalry that had plagued the neighborhood, a conflict marked by assaults, attempted murders, and now, a life cut short. The act was allegedly committed to maintain and increase Davila's standing within his gang.
