On April 4, 2015, 21-year-old Michele Hernandez-Vasquez was found with a gunshot wound to her head at the Cosmopolitan Motel on Hylan Boulevard in Staten Island. The incident occurred around 3:20 a.m., and Hernandez-Vasquez, a resident of the Bedford-Stuyvesant neighborhood in Brooklyn, succumbed to her injuries the following afternoon.
