Rosetta Fradella, a 68-year-old woman, was found deceased in her home on Spruce Street on the morning of December 9, 2015. Her life was cut short by a man she had spent two decades with, her ex-boyfriend, 71-year-old Salvatore Piscopo.
The couple had recently ended their 20-year relationship, and Piscopo was no longer living with Fradella.
On that Wednesday morning, he returned to her residence. The devastating events that followed were discovered by Fradella's daughter, who found both her mother and Piscopo deceased and immediately contacted the authorities. Police responded to the 911 call around 9 a.m. and pronounced both individuals dead at the scene.
Investigators quickly determined that the incident was a murder-suicide. It is believed that Piscopo shot Fradella in the head before turning the gun on himself.
