In the bright morning light of a Brooklyn day, tragedy struck and forever altered the lives of one family. Troy Mitchell, a 28-year-old Black male, was fatally shot in the chest on October 18, 2015. The incident occurred around 10 a.m. on Van Siclen Avenue, merely a block away from his residence.
