In the quiet community of Mastic Beach, New York, a tragic event unfolded that claimed the life of 28-year-old Blake Chambers. On the afternoon of December 4, 2015, Suffolk County police responded to a 911 call reporting a shooting at a home on Huntington Drive. Upon their arrival, officers discovered a grim scene. Blake Chambers was found inside the residence with a gunshot wound.
His younger brother, 22-year-old Codi Chambers, had also been shot.
In the immediate aftermath, two individuals attempted to drive Codi to the hospital but turned back upon seeing ambulances arriving at the scene. Both Blake and Codi were transported to Brookhaven Memorial Hospital Medical Center in East Patchogue, where they were pronounced dead. The brothers lived at the Huntington Drive home with their mother and others.
The investigation into the double homicide revealed that the house was known for drug activity, and both Blake and his brother had extensive criminal records. At the time of his death, Blake was due in court for a drug charge, and Codi was also facing upcoming court appearances on similar charges. In the initial stages of the investigation, police had no clear suspect or motive, describing the crime scene as 'extensive.'
For nearly three years, the case remained a mystery. However, in September 2018, a significant breakthrough occurred. Two brothers, Brian and Lydell Barham, both 34 years old at the time, were arrested and indicted in connection with the killings of Blake and Codi Chambers. They were charged with second-degree murder and criminal possession of a weapon. Brian Barham, who had a lengthy criminal history and was on parole at the time of his arrest, pleaded not guilty. Lydell Barham was already incarcerated on a drug conviction when he was charged with the murders.
