In a quiet Latham, New York neighborhood, the life of 44-year-old Deborah Roman, a dedicated English teacher, came to a tragic and violent end on February 9, 2016. On that Tuesday afternoon, she and her 10-year-old son, Nathan, were fatally shot by her husband, Israel Roman, a 44-year-old Colonie police officer. After taking the lives of his wife and son, Israel Roman set their house on fire before taking his own life with his police-issued handgun.
