In the early evening of September 3, 2016, a resident of the Bronx, Lester McLeod, a 31-year-old Black male, was found with a fatal gunshot wound to his torso. The incident occurred outside of 15904 Harlem River Drive in Manhattan. Police responded to a 911 call around 6:23 p.m. and discovered McLeod unconscious and unresponsive. He was quickly transported to Harlem Hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.
For several years, the case of Lester McLeod's death remained under
investigation with no arrests made. The New York Police Department continued to seek information from the public to help solve the crime. His family and friends were left to mourn his sudden and violent death, hoping for justice to be served.
A significant breakthrough in the case came more than four years later. On December 14, 2020, authorities arrested Argelos Salcedo, a 33-year-old resident of Manhattan. Salcedo was taken into custody in connection with McLeod's murder and was subsequently charged with second-degree murder and criminal possession of a weapon. The arrest was the result of an ongoing and diligent investigation by the NYPD. Following the arrest, the investigation was still considered active as authorities continued to build their case against the suspect.
