Galileo Garcia, a 30-year-old NYPD sergeant, tragically died on February 23, 2017, in the Bronx, New York. His death was ruled a suicide, as he fatally shot himself in his home. Garcia had been with the NYPD since 2010 and was highly regarded, having earned the Police Commissioner's Award for achieving the second highest overall average in his police academy class. At the time of his death, he was assigned to Police Service Area 7, a Housing Bureau command in the Bronx.
