On March 13, 2017, Shaleek Jenkins, a 35-year-old resident of Hempstead, NY, was tragically shot to death outside a residence on West Merrick Road in Valley Stream. The incident occurred in the early hours of the morning, around 4:05 AM. Responding officers from the Fifth Precinct found Jenkins suffering from gunshot wounds and immediately transported him to Franklin Hospital. Despite their efforts, Jenkins was pronounced dead at 5:10 AM.
