Known to his family and friends as 'Chevyboy' or 'Black,' Tralin was a native of New Iberia but had made his home as a resident of Harahan.
He was a bright and vibrant young man who was known for lighting up the lives of everyone he encountered.
Born on February 12, 1991, Tralin was a graduate of Liberty Christian Academy in LaPlace, where he excelled in basketball and was even offered a scholarship. Choosing a different path, he attended truck driving school and earned his CDL license. For eight years, he was a dedicated employee of the Coca-Cola Bottling Company in New Orleans. Beyond his work, Tralin was a member of a car club called Chevy Gang, a testament to his passions. His death left a deep void in the hearts of his loving mother, father, and a wide circle of family and friends who cherished him.
The investigation into Tralin's murder, which occurred at 3500 S Claiborne Ave, continued for years. In a significant development, the New Orleans Police Department announced the arrest of a suspect in December 2021. Ernest Weatherspoon was taken into custody and charged with armed robbery and second-degree murder in connection with the death of Tralin James, bringing a long-awaited step towards justice for his grieving family.
