In the borough of Brooklyn, a 25-year-old man named Dawud Escort lost his life in a fatal shooting on the evening of November 1, 2017. The incident occurred within the Unity Plaza Houses in the East New York neighborhood.
Reports from that night indicate that police were called to the scene for an assault at approximately 6:34 p.m. Upon arrival, officers discovered Escort in the lobby of a building on Hinsdale Street with gunshot wounds to his torso and arm.
He was quickly transported to Brookdale University Hospital Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead. The investigation later determined that the actual shooting took place in the lobby of a nearby building on Dumont Avenue.
In the wake of the shooting, the New York Police Department sought the public's assistance in identifying two men who were wanted for questioning in connection with the homicide. Surveillance footage of these individuals was released to the public in hopes of generating leads. One of the men police were looking to question was last seen wearing a black hoodie, black pants, and black sneakers. Despite these efforts, public online sources do not contain information regarding any arrests made in the case. The investigation into the death of Dawud Escort remains without a publicly announced resolution.
