On a November morning in the Bronx, the life of 22-year-old Raul Melendez was tragically cut short. On November 3, 2017, Melendez, a young father and maintenance worker, was found inside his Wakefield apartment with fatal gunshot wounds to his head and stomach. It was his own mother who made the devastating discovery. Emergency services were called to the scene on Bronx Boulevard, but it was too late; Melendez was pronounced dead upon their arrival.
Known to his neighbors as 'Frenchie'
because of his light complexion and hair, Melendez was a familiar and well-liked figure in his community. The senselessness of his death was further compounded by the apparent motive. Investigators believe two teenage assailants shot Melendez before stealing his clothes. Surveillance footage captured the suspects, believed to be between 16 and 18 years old, fleeing the scene with a bundle of clothing.

Both were described as slim black males, aged 16 to 18.
