In the winter of 2018, a young man's life was tragically cut short in a Bronx apartment building. Jonathan Tuck, a 25-year-old male, was fatally shot on the evening of Sunday, February 4th. The incident occurred at approximately 9:15 p.m. inside a residence at 2334 Washington Avenue. Authorities reported that Tuck had gone to the apartment with the intention of purchasing marijuana. A dispute erupted during the transaction, which tragically escalated to gunfire.
Responding to a 911 call, police discovered Tuck with a single gunshot wound to the head. He was rushed to St. Barnabas Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The investigation into Jonathan Tuck's death led to the indictment of five men in connection with the fatal shooting. The suspects were identified as Richard Jimenez, also known as 'Showtime,' Kevin Cruz, who went by 'Juice,' Ira Lawson, known as 'Malachi,' and Curtis Hines, who used the aliases 'Curt' and 'Gz.' A fifth suspect, Luis Semiday, or 'PopOff,' was also identified. In late October 2018, Jimenez, Cruz, Lawson, and Hines were taken into custody. At that time, Semiday remained at large. The indictment brought against the men included serious charges of robbery conspiracy, robbery, and murder through the use of a firearm.
According to the indictment, the five men had planned and carried out an armed robbery of a marijuana dealer at the Washington Avenue apartment. It was during the commission of this robbery that Jonathan Tuck was unintentionally shot and killed. The charges carried severe potential penalties, with the count of murder through the use of a firearm holding a maximum sentence of life in prison or the death penalty.
