On July 26, 2016, Debra Burgess, aged 59, was fatally shot in her home in the Kingswood Subdivision of New Orleans East, Louisiana. The tragic incident also took the life of her son, Freddie Burgess, aged 44. According to police reports, unknown assailants entered the family home late at night and opened fire.
