On December 16, 2012, Vivian Carter-Synder, aged 56, was shot and killed in New Orleans, Louisiana. The fatal incident took place on the same day that another individual, Lawrence Burt, 18, also fell victim to gun violence. Vivian and Lawrence were two of the three people shot in separate incidents across New Orleans that Sunday evening. Vivian Carter-Synder's tragic death added to the grim tally of homicides in a year marked by escalating violence in the city.
