In the late summer of 2019, a tragedy unfolded in the quiet town of Riverhead, New York, culminating in the death of 71-year-old Sarah Brown. On the morning of August 27th, police were called to the Doris Avenue home she shared with her husband, Robert Brown, 65, after reports of a man carrying a handgun. What followed was a tense standoff that would last for nearly four hours.

officers, converged on the residence where Robert Brown had barricaded himself inside. The situation reached its critical point when police breached the home, taking Brown into custody. Inside, they made a grim discovery: Sarah Brown was found deceased, having sustained a fatal gunshot wound.
Following his arrest, Robert Brown was charged with second-degree murder in connection with his wife's death.
