On a winter day in New York, a man dedicated to helping others tragically lost his life in a senseless act of violence. Purcell Gowie Jr., a 43-year-old male, was walking to a doctor's appointment in East Harlem on February 12th when he was caught in the crossfire of a gang-related dispute. A single gunshot to the chest ended the life of the Brooklyn resident who had devoted seven years to his work as a counselor, recently earning a degree in social work while continuing his full-time job.
