In the early hours of March 3, 2020, a night out in Brooklyn turned fatal for Janile Whitted, a 26-year-old man from Queens. The events that led to his death began inside the Kinanm Lounge on Atlantic Avenue in Bedford-Stuyvesant, where he was spotted by members of a rival gang. Two men, Dashawn Austin and Jayquan Lane, who were members of the 'Hoolies' street gang, began to follow Whitted after he left the lounge.
Their pursuit continued for a few blocks to the Amour Cabaret on Nostrand
