In the early evening of April 1, 2020, a dispute on Alexander Street near University Avenue in Rochester, New York, turned fatal. Lorenzo L. Wade Sr., a 47-year-old male, was shot at least once in the torso during an altercation. Rochester Police Department officers responded to the scene around 6 p.m. and discovered Wade on the ground. He was quickly transported to Strong Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead a short time later.
The investigation into the shooting led to the
arrest of 26-year-old Tyler Ehoussou. Authorities alleged that Ehoussou shot Wade during their confrontation, though the exact nature of their dispute and whether they knew each other beforehand remains unclear. The incident marked the seventh homicide in the city that year.
Following his arrest, Ehoussou was charged with first-degree manslaughter and second-degree criminal possession of a weapon. He was arraigned in Rochester City Court, where he entered a plea of not guilty. Bail was set at $50,000 cash, or a bond of $100,000. The case against him was then scheduled to proceed through the legal system.
