On a summer evening in 2020, 16-year-old Kleimer Mendez was playing basketball at the George Walker Jr. Park in the Cypress Hills neighborhood of Brooklyn, New York. It was July 26th when the lively scene at the park was shattered by sudden violence. A dark-colored SUV approached the basketball court, and a gunman stood up through the sunroof and opened fire on the crowd.
