On a Friday afternoon in Queens, 23-year-old Steven Daniels was fatally shot in what authorities believe may be gang-related violence. The shooting occurred on September 18, 2020, in the Rockaways. Daniels, a resident of Jamaica, Queens, was a male who was shot multiple times.
The brazen attack took place around 2:30 p.m. in front of a residence on Beach 88th Street. After being struck in the chest and arm, Daniels managed to get into his vehicle and flee the scene.
However, his attempt to escape was short-lived as he crashed his car near the Beach Channel Houses, not far from the initial shooting location. His vehicle struck a fence and overturned.
Responding officers from the 100th Precinct discovered Daniels unconscious and unresponsive inside the wrecked car. Paramedics rushed him to St. John's Episcopal Hospital, but his injuries proved to be fatal, and he was pronounced dead. At the time, police had not identified any suspects and were investigating the deadly shooting. No arrests have been publicly announced in connection with the homicide.
