On a Saturday night in Mount Vernon, New York, 35-year-old Warren Glen Clahar, a male resident of the city, was fatally shot. The incident occurred on October 24, 2020, as he sat in his vehicle on South Fulton Avenue. Tragically, at the time of the shooting, Clahar was present at a vigil for another individual who had also been a victim of homicide.
Just before 10 p.m., multiple gunshots struck Clahar. He sustained wounds to his left leg and wrist.
Emergency services transported him to Montefiore Mount Vernon Hospital, but he did not survive his injuries. His death marked the ninth homicide in Mount Vernon that year, prompting concern and calls from community leaders to address the rise in gun violence. In the immediate aftermath of the shooting, two people were taken into custody and charged with disorderly conduct and resisting arrest as they were attempting to provide aid to Clahar.
As of now, no arrests have been made in connection with the murder of Warren Clahar, and the case officially remains unsolved and open. Law enforcement has urged the public to come forward with any information that might lead to identifying a suspect or suspects. A reward of up to $2,500 has been offered for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for his death. The investigation continues, but the lack of witnesses and substantial evidence has presented significant challenges for law enforcement. In a tragic turn of events, in June of the following year, a friend of Clahar's, 32-year-old Jeremy Logan, was shot and killed while attending a vigil commemorating what would have been Clahar's birthday.
