In the quiet village of Nyack, New York, the life of 35-year-old Gregory Dubuisson was tragically cut short on the evening of November 22, 2020. At approximately 7:08 p.m., the sound of gunshots shattered the peace at the intersection of Main Street and South Franklin Street. Responding to multiple reports, Orangetown Police officers arrived to find Dubuisson lying on the sidewalk, suffering from several gunshot wounds.
Emergency responders, including police, paramedics, and the Nyack
Ambulance Corps, immediately administered first aid to Dubuisson before rushing him to Montefiore Nyack Hospital. Despite their efforts, he was pronounced dead at the hospital. Witnesses at the scene reported that the shooting followed a heated argument that had spilled out of a local bar. This violent act marked the third homicide in Nyack that year, causing heartbreak and concern within the community. The tragedy was compounded for Dubuisson's family, who had also recently mourned the passing of his father.
The investigation into Dubuisson's death was swift and collaborative, involving multiple law enforcement agencies, including the Orangetown Police Department, the Rockland County Sheriff's Office, and the Rockland County District Attorney's Office. While some officers were attempting to save Dubuisson's life, others canvassed the area for the suspect. Their search quickly led them to 26-year-old Wendy Jean of South Nyack, who was found in the vicinity of 6th Avenue and North Midland. Jean was taken into custody, and police recovered a. 357 revolver believed to be the weapon used in the shooting.
Wendy Jean was arrested and subsequently charged with second-degree murder and two counts of criminal possession of a weapon. He was arraigned virtually in Nyack's village court and remanded to the Rockland County Jail. The Rockland County District Attorney's office pledged to pursue justice for Gregory Dubuisson and his family as the case against Jean moved forward in the legal system.
