On May 30, 2021, Michael Peter Moran Jr., a 30-year-old White / Caucasian male from Queens, New York, was fatally shot inside a residence at 26-45 94th St. in East Elmhurst. Moran sustained gunshot wounds to his chest and throat, which rendered him unconscious and unresponsive. Emergency Medical Services promptly transported him to Elmhurst Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The investigation into the shooting led police from the 115th Precinct to arrest 37-year-old Asa Wright of
Ditmars Boulevard in East Elmhurst. Wright was subsequently charged with murder, manslaughter, unlawful imprisonment, and criminal possession of a firearm in connection with Moran's death.
