In the a violent episode that added to the city's persistent struggles with crime, Arthur Caldwell, a 31-year-old Black man, was fatally shot on November 6, 2016, in New Orleans, Louisiana. The incident that claimed Caldwell's life unfolded in the city's Seventh District, an area that had been grappling with a notable number of violent offenses.
