In the early summer of 2021, the life of 29-year-old Desmond L. 'Gent' Bitting, a male resident of Niagara Falls, New York, was cut tragically short. On the evening of June 7th, police responded to reports of shots fired in the area of 19th and Niagara streets. Upon arrival, they discovered Bitting in a yard on 18th Street with a gunshot wound to his chest.
He was rushed by ambulance to Erie County Medical Center for treatment.
Desmond Bitting, known as the Head Cook at the Anchor Bar in Niagara Falls, fought for his life for a week. Sadly, on June 14, 2021, he succumbed to his injuries. Bitting was remembered as a diligent worker who was deeply loved by his family and friends. He had a passion for Rap and R&B music, a talent for drawing, and cherished the time he spent with his nephews.
Following his death, the Niagara Falls Police Department opened an investigation into the shooting. They have urged anyone with information regarding the case to contact their Detective Bureau. To date, there have been no public announcements regarding any arrests or the identification of any suspects in connection with the shooting death of Desmond Bitting. The investigation remains open as his family and community continue to seek justice for his untimely passing.
