James Lang Sr., a 91-year-old male, passed away in New Orleans, Louisiana. Known affectionately as 'Slick' to many in his community, he was born in Walls, Louisiana, on January 7, 1930, to Luke Lang and Mandy Williams. For many years, he was a familiar face on the docks, having been employed with the International Longshoreman's Association Local 3000 from 1965 until his retirement in 1992.
Retirement did not mean a life of leisure for Mr.
Lang; instead, he dedicated his time to serving his church and community. He accepted a calling as an Ordained Deacon and was known for his loving heart and fearless sharing of the Gospel. Many individuals and families were touched by the inspirational words of wisdom he imparted. His life was celebrated by his family and friends at a service held at the Grace & Glory Family Worship Church International.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Corrine Lang, his parents, three brothers, and a sister. He left behind a large family to cherish his memory, including seven children, twelve grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and friends. His passing was a significant loss to a community that had come to know and respect him over his long and impactful life.
