In the summer of 2021, the community of Mount Vernon, New York, was shaken by the tragic death of 32-year-old Jeremy Logan, a Black male. On the evening of June 23rd, Logan was attending a memorial service for his friend, Warren Clahar, who had himself been a victim of gun violence months earlier. The vigil was being held near 266 South Fulton Avenue when, shortly after 10:30 p.m., gunfire erupted, and Logan was struck by multiple bullets.
First responders found him on the sidewalk with severe injuries and rushed him to Montefiore Mount Vernon Hospital, but he succumbed to his wounds and was pronounced dead.
The investigation into Logan's murder was immediately launched by the Mount Vernon Police Department. Despite the public setting of the shooting, with numerous people in attendance at the vigil, the case has remained unsolved, and no arrests have been made. Investigators believe that there are witnesses who hold crucial information that could lead to a breakthrough in the case. In an effort to generate new leads, Westchester County Crime Stoppers announced a substantial reward of $7,500 for any information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for Jeremy Logan's death. This reward was highlighted in November 2022, with authorities and Logan's family making a public plea for anyone with knowledge of the incident to come forward. His family remembers him as a kind and generous man, known for his positive impact on the community, including once paying for an ice cream truck to treat local children. Logan was a father to a teenage daughter and had twins who were born after his untimely death. The murders of both Jeremy Logan and his friend Warren Clahar remain unsolved, casting a somber shadow over the community as their loved ones continue their agonizing wait for justice.
