On the night of September 15, 2021, in a Syracuse, New York apartment on Croly Street, the life of 33-year-old Julian Mansaw was tragically cut short in a hail of gunfire. Mansaw, a certified auto mechanic, former U.S. Army serviceman, and truck driver, was fatally shot multiple times. He was not the only victim that night; alongside him, 29-year-old Shabriah Gainey was also killed.
Mansaw was pronounced dead at the scene, while Gainey succumbed to her injuries at a local hospital.
The brutal nature of the crime sent shockwaves through the community. An investigation revealed that Mansaw had been shot ten times, and Gainey five. The heinous act was further compounded by the presence of a lone, living witness: an 8-year-old boy who was inside the apartment during the shooting. This child's testimony would prove to be a crucial element in the subsequent legal proceedings.
The investigation into the double homicide led law enforcement to 39-year-old Bruce Myles, who was apprehended in Ohio. Myles was subsequently charged with first-degree murder for the deaths of both Julian Mansaw and Shabriah Gainey.
