In the early hours of January 13, 2022, a beloved Brooklyn DJ known as Shawn 'Shawn J' Jeffrey, a 46-year-old Black male, was fatally shot. The incident occurred at the E&R Rental Hall in the Canarsie neighborhood of Brooklyn, where Jeffrey was attending a weekly party called 'Dream Wednesdays.' An argument reportedly broke out over a woman, and the situation quickly escalated when a man involved in the dispute pulled out a gun.
