Ronald S. Stapleton, a 32-year-old police officer with the New York City Police Department, tragically lost his life on December 18, 1977, in Brooklyn, NY. Officer Stapleton was off duty when he encountered a robbery in progress at a tavern located at 2433 Knapp Street. In his attempt to intervene, he was brutally attacked by two suspects.
