On October 1, 2016, 38-year-old Miguel Angel Villalobos was found lying in the street on Picador Boulevard in San Diego's Otay Mesa West neighborhood. Responding to a citizen's call at around 3:55 a.m., police officers discovered Villalobos with a gunshot wound to his upper body. Despite immediate attempts to save his life, including CPR by officers and paramedics, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
