On October 1, 2016, 38-year-old Miguel Angel Villalobos was found lying in the street on Picador Boulevard in San Diego's Otay Mesa West neighborhood. Responding to a citizen's call at around 3:55 a.m., police officers discovered Villalobos with a gunshot wound to his upper body. Despite immediate attempts to save his life, including CPR by officers and paramedics, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Villalobos was a resident of Imperial Beach and had grown up in National City.
Authorities initially identified a white vehicle, possibly a Nissan or Honda, as a vehicle of interest in the case, though no suspects were immediately named. The investigation into his murder remains ongoing, and the San Diego Police Department has encouraged anyone with information to contact their Homicide Unit.
