On a late summer morning in Rochester, New York, the life of 54-year-old Adolfo Hernandez was tragically cut short. The Hispanic male was on North Clinton Avenue, near Siebert Place, around 11:30 a.m. on September 15, 2022, when he was shot multiple times in the upper body. Emergency services arrived at the scene and transported him to Strong Memorial Hospital, but his injuries proved fatal, and he was pronounced dead shortly after his arrival.
This violent act marked the 58th homicide in the city of Rochester that year.
The investigation into the shooting quickly pointed to a suspect, 45-year-old Ruben Guzman-Pizarro, also a resident of Rochester. The day after the fatal shooting, Guzman-Pizarro was located and apprehended by the Batavia Police Department. Following his arrest, he was turned over to the Rochester Police Department to face charges related to the death of Adolfo Hernandez.
Ruben Guzman-Pizarro was subsequently charged with second-degree murder, a serious felony, and second-degree criminal possession of a weapon. After being formally charged, he was arraigned in City Court. The judge ordered him to be held in the Monroe County Jail without the possibility of bail. A preliminary hearing in the case was scheduled for the following Wednesday as the legal process against him began.
