Trooper First Class William P. Mills, Jr., aged 32, tragically lost his life on June 8, 1979, while serving with the Maryland State Police. The incident occurred in Brookview, Maryland, a small town near Rhodesdale. Trooper Mills was responding to a domestic complaint involving two neighbors.
