Police Officer III Philip Carl Metz, aged 33, tragically lost his life on March 27, 1981, while responding to an alarm call at a catalog supply business located at 11130 New Hampshire Avenue in Montgomery County, Maryland. Officer Metz, along with the business manager and a security company employee, was checking the premises following an earlier alarm call.
