On a summer afternoon in 2007, a verbal dispute tragically escalated, leading to the death of 31-year-old Taiwan Sadler. The incident unfolded on July 20th, at approximately 3:40 p.m. in the 2300 block of Shadyside Avenue in Suitland, Maryland. Patrol officers were dispatched to the scene following reports of a shooting. Upon their arrival, they discovered Sadler suffering from gunshot wounds.
He was transported to a local hospital where he ultimately succumbed to his injuries.
The investigation into Sadler's death pointed to a heated argument as the catalyst for the violence. In the immediate aftermath, the perpetrator fled the area, leaving a void of justice for Sadler's family and friends. Homicide detectives with the Prince George's County Police Department quickly identified a suspect in the case: Leumus Eric White. An arrest warrant was issued, charging him with first-degree murder, but White managed to evade capture for years.
A significant break in the case came nearly seven years later. On March 21, 2014, Leumus Eric White, then 36 years old and of no fixed address, was arrested by the Metropolitan Police Department on unrelated charges. Following his arrest, he was extradited to Prince George's County to face the long-outstanding murder charge. He was subsequently held at the Department of Corrections on a no-bond status, bringing a long-awaited sense of resolution to the 2007 homicide of Taiwan Sadler.
