In the early hours of a Saturday morning in June 2017, the vibrant life of 21-year-old Zachary Nelson was tragically cut short in a burst of gunfire on Tulane Avenue in New Orleans. A graduate of St. Augustine High School, where he was remembered as a polite and hardworking honor student, Zachary had dreams of one day becoming a neurosurgeon. Friends and family described him as a young man with a strong Christian faith who was a leader among his peers and a dedicated football player.
