Cynthia Deshawn Aaron, a 32-year-old female, was fatally shot in Suitland, Maryland, in the early hours of April 10, 2010. The incident that led to her death began with a dispute inside the VIP Club on Allentown Road. Aaron, who was at the club with friends, was reportedly involved in a physical altercation with another woman. Following this initial confrontation, a second fight broke out in the club's parking lot.
During the parking lot altercation, a man named Preston J. R.
Spann of Southeast Washington intervened. Spann, who was a friend of the woman Aaron had argued with, drew a handgun and fired multiple shots. Cynthia Deshawn Aaron was struck by the gunfire and was pronounced dead at the scene. Another individual, a man who was with Aaron, was also wounded in the shooting but survived his injuries.
Following an investigation into the shooting, Preston J. R. Spann was arrested and charged in connection with Cynthia Deshawn Aaron's death. In December 2011, a Prince George's County jury found Spann guilty of first-degree murder and attempted first-degree murder. The following month, he was sentenced to life in prison for the murder, with an additional 15 years to be served consecutively for the attempted murder charge.
