In December of 2010, the life of 28-year-old James Lamont Tinsley was tragically cut short in Laurel, Maryland. On Saturday, the 11th of that month, Tinsley was discovered inside a vehicle, having sustained a fatal gunshot wound. The grim discovery prompted an investigation by the Prince George's County Police into what was quickly determined to be a homicide.
The investigation led authorities to a suspect in the case.
Jamar Slade Russell, who was 25 years old at the time, was identified as the individual allegedly responsible for Tinsley's death. In a significant break in the case, Russell was apprehended in Laurinburg, North Carolina, on Thursday, December 30, 2010. Following his arrest, law enforcement officials announced their intention to charge him with first-degree murder. He was held in North Carolina, awaiting extradition back to Maryland to face the charges.
James Lamont Tinsley, known to some as 'Budah,' was a father of three, leaving behind two daughters, Taylor and Ava, and a son, Nicholas. His death was mourned by his mother, Rosita Tinsley, his sister, Breona, and other relatives and friends. A funeral service was held for him on Friday, December 17, 2010, at The Tabernacle Church in Laurel, followed by his interment at Maryland National Cemetery.
